Bismuth metal melts at 271°C, so can be melted in a stainless steel pot. As it cools, bismuth naturally forms into a beautiful crystalline structure that take on different colours. The size of the bismuth crystal will depend on the cooling time, while the colours that it exhibits is a function of the oxidizing process.
